The Space Pirates

1 comment:

  1. This was my last "new" old Doctor Who, as I'd seen The War Games before. Everyone seems extremely white in this - a sad contrast to the earlier Troughton stories set in the future.

    And Milo Clancy.
    Dear *God* but Milo Clancy.

My contemporaneous notes on this story are mostly about Milo Clancy. I shall reproduce them for you here, as written at the time:

    Episode One
Where's the Tardis? Bored! Just people we don't know trying to catch Space Pirates.

    Episode Two
Chequered shirt? Neckerchief? & WTF (with F underlined three times)'s that accent? Have we returned to the Gunfighters?

This is now >1m of a man having breakfast.

    Episode Three
    Clancy is *very* *annoying*.

    Episode Four
Ordinarily it's just dull. When Clancy's on-screen(audio) it's actively bad. He appears to be doing the American-accent equivalent of Mummerset.

    Episode Five
I watched this and have no notes. But once was enough.

    Episode Six
I think Milo Clancy is the worst character on Doctor Who. Certainly to this point. Probably ever.

My overall note at the end of watching this story is that it was a real low point, and no wonder that the series was close to cancellation.

    But dear God.

    Milo Clancy.
